About Anima Cabernet Sauvignon
The Anima range is made in limited quantities from the best grapes and only in exceptional years. This 100% varietal Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in new oak barrels for 19 months to add complex oak notes to the well-structured and robust wine, giving it great potential for ageing.
(We still have a few cases of the outstanding 2012 Vintage Cabernet Sauvignon available too.)
Why we love this wine
Mirela is Romanian and we are very excited about the emergence of great premium wines from the country and this is one of the best examples we have found. We love the rich, complex aromas with black and red fruits complemented by spice, cocoa and a little toast from the oak. It’s totally ready to drink now but a little age will see it mellow and develop and it has the potential to age for at least another 10 years.
Why you’ll love this wine
If you like Bordeaux clarets, especially left-bank Cabernet Sauvignon-led wines with lots of structure and character, you’ll love this. Similarly, if you’ve enjoyed Napa Cab-monsters or Australian Coonawarra reds, you’ll find this familiar. It’s well-made and extraordinary good value. Decant it a couple of hours in advance and it’ll go brilliantly with steak or a Sunday roast.
