Chateau Le Chatelet holds the top Grand Cru Classé status and rightly so. This wine is made in limited quantities from 80 % Merlot, 20 % Cabernet Franc grapes from just three hectares of vineyards on the estate. It’s gently fermented and spends 12-18 months in barrel to mature. The use of new oak for two-thirds of this élevage gives it a rich and tannic complexity that goes perfectly with game and red meat. A classic right bank Bordeaux that’s ready to drink now but will age beautifully over the next ten years (if you can wait that long!)
