Chateau Le Chatelet holds Grand Cru Classé status and rightly so. This wine is made in limited quantities from 80 % Merlot, 20 % Cabernet Franc grapes from just three hectares of vineyards on the estate. It’s gently fermented and spends 12-18 months in barrel to mature. The use of new oak for two-thirds of this élevage gives it a rich and tannic complexity that goes perfectly with game and red meat. A classic right bank Bordeaux that’s ready to drink now but will age beautifully over the next ten years (if you can wait that long!)
Note that the bottle image shows the 2012 vintage. We’ve just taken delivery of the 2013 vintage and we’ll update the image as soon as we get the photography done!
